India Design Workshops - Anchal Project

During two, week long, workshops Anchal artisans were taught the basic rules of color theory. Beginning with the color wheel and an exercise on color value the women completed a textile collage based on the ingredients of their favorite meal. Encouraging the 62 women to observe the world with the rules of color challenged them to create new works of art with a further understanding of it's elements.

"Most of these women have never held a paintbrush before. Their hesitation, curiosity & joy were incredible to witness." - Colleen Clines

Deliverables: conceptual development of lesson plans / creation of lesson materials / teaching of lessons

Upon complete of the color exercises, the women were then asked about their favorite meals. The collage was to use the new techniques and apply them to textiles. This project allowed for personal interpretation and exploration of lessons previously learned. Below is the work of Anchal artisan Nazia.
